Waterrijk

Eindhoven

In Waterrijk, a section area of Meerhoven, diederendirrix designed two urban volumes. The clusters lie on the intersection of the main avenue and the park square. One cluster contains only ground-access dwellings and in the other, ground-access dwellings are combined with an apartment block. The houses are orientated towards the lake, avenue, gardens or park. On the side of the cluster facing the square, the facade of the entire block is stepped so that a roof terrace is created for the apartments. The varying frontage gives a broad, spacious feeling to the square. The impression of the cluster is clear and unambiguous. We achieved this through the material choice, the colour scheme that joins the two blocks and the strong, horizontally articulated layout of the facade.
