Built in1926, Schellens was designed by Wolters, an architect from Eindhoven. Granted monument status by the Council, it is to be renovated and found a new function. The fully tiled and glass floored central stairwell is the most important feature of the monument. The history of the factory remains evident because of the significant contribution to the interior design of the building by the De Ploeg/Vescom textile company e.g. their fabric collection is on exhibition. The Leo Schellens textile factory was the last working factory in the inner city and diederendirrix has responsibility for the former office building annex store room division of the Schellens property.
