The design of the innovative and sustainable education building conforms to the urban and architectural conditions of the TU / e campus, designed by S.J. van Embden. The building volumes take the form of discs and halls, which are designed within a clear structural grid which is architecturally articulated. The design is an ensemble of two volumes (main building and annex) in which classrooms and laboratories have been incorporated. The building operates as an active city. The main building is accessed by six informal stairwells. This creates a durable and flexible organization which allows education groups and light laboratories to be located arbitrarily in the building. The informal stairwells ensure small distances between the education groups. They are designed as atriums with small diagonal stairs that provoke contact between students, teachers and researchers. The heavy laboratories are located in the second volume designed as an appendix to the main building.
