The Dongezone in Tilburg is a wide grassland area grazed by highland cattle and the housing in the residential area of Koolhoven was oriented by diederendirrix with this magnificent view in mind. The houses are positioned in such a way that they form a compact courtyard. They are also given a specific angle in the row so that the uniqueness of every house is emphasized. One other advantage of linking them in this way is that more privacy is achieved in outer areas. The architecture is strongly horizontal which accentuates the unity of the project and the materials used by diederendirrix enhance this. A clear, light orange-red brick is used in assorted bands and with a variety of surface structures. The structural differences come about by displaying the cut edge end of the brick.
