The historical nature of the project site is clearly obvious in its location on the edge of Westervoort. Various ancient ruins form the basis of the four building clusters in the landscaped park. The shapes and materials used for two of the clusters come from the historical shapes of forts and farmhouses. The other clusters form a continuation of the buildings already present at the location. In the project, the historic Heegsche Bouwing assembly finds a new destiny. The old farmhouse lies in the centre surrounded by ground-access dwellings. The place where Fort Geldersoorth once stood is marked by a cluster of linked patio dwellings. The shape of the cluster is a continuance of old fortification elements already in the area.
