The de Aker site plan presents a logical layout of urban block designs, in which each block has its own distinctive spatial theme. A park, with a pond, lies in the centre of this section plan. The diederendirrix design includes linked villas around the pond, four rows of terraced housing and three blocks of patio housing. A notable architectural element is the carport, which continues as a steel framework around the kitchen windows of the houses. The surrounding quadrangular street layout consists of red-purple brick elevations. To give a contrasting effect, a total of 109 residences are finished primarily with white painted brickwork and untreated wood.
