And the ambitions were high. Create an urban neighborhood with great attention to stately elegance, with a rich differentiation of housing types and a pleasant living environment in the public spaces. Primarily the design intends to create a vibrant city neighborhood through noteworthy interaction with the national monuments, landmarks that bear witness to the lost brewery function which in turn asks for an inspirational conversion. The plan Drie Hoefijzers is an exceptional example of the insertion of a new building into an existing historical context, whereby an important factor is the enhancement of the historic quality. Especially the transformation of the historic buildings creates a inspiring relationship between old and new.
